INGREDIENTS:
- Tamari or liquid aminos 3 tablespoons
- Pure maple syrup 1 tbsp
- 1 tbsp of Balsamic vinegar
- Liquid smoke 1 tsp
- Smoked paprika 1 tsp
- Half a teaspoon of Chili powder
- A pinch of cayenne or hot sauce, it’s optional
- 1 packet of tempeh, approx.8 oz.
INGREDIENT NOTES:
Tempeh:
The cultured soy product known as tempeh, has a distinct texture and a nutty, even bitter flavor. Both protein and dietary fiber are abundant in it.
Tamari sauce:
The vegan bacon marinade gains a delicious and salty richness of flavor with a tiny amount of gluten-free tamari sauce or low-sodium soy sauce.
Maple syrup:
This adds a natural sweetness to the marinade, which balances the savory flavors and brings out the other tempeh’s flavor.
Liquid Smoke:
This is the main element that gives our plant-based bacon a smoky flavor. You can try other alternatives like smoked paprika or smoked sea salt, but liquid smoke works best.

- Preparation of tempeh bacon marination
- Add cayenne, pure maple syrup, smoked paprika, tamari sauce, chili powder, balsamic vinegar, and liquid smoke to a large round bowl.

Avoid overcrowding:
Bake the pieces in batches so they cook evenly.
Tempeh slices:
We trim them into one-fourth-inch thin slices.
Marinate:
To allow the tempeh to absorb the flavors, marinate it for at least one hour.
STORAGE INFORMATION:
FRIDGE:
- Save the remaining tempeh bacon in an air-tight box and refrigerate it for 6 to 9 days.
FREEZER:
- Before freezing, chill the hot dish at a normal place for 1 to 2 hours. Then, pack it into the baking sheet or zip-lock plastic bag and freeze it for more than three months.
Reheating:
- You can rewarm the tempeh bacon (chilled) in the microwave oven for 40 to 70 seconds.
