INGREDIENT NOTES
Oats:
- Rolled oats are best that give the chewy texture and maintain the shape. It is possible to use quick oats in case it is necessary, but the bites will be less structured and softer.
Nut Butter:
- Natural nut butters include cashew, peanut, & almond butters that are rich in taste & creamy. It is also used as the primary binder, ensure that you mix it thoroughly to mix the oils together.
Nuts:
- Walnuts and pecans provide a crunchy bite and go well with warm spices. Chopped almonds, cashews or a combination is fine, whatever you have available.
Sweetener:
- Maple syrup adds sweetness mixed with caramel taste. Agave syrup is an excellent substitute, particularly to a more subtle flavor.
Seeds:
- Chia or flax seeds contain fiber, and assist in keeping the bites together due to its natural gelling abilities. They are also a source of omega-3s to give a healthy boost.
Chocolate Chips:
- Vegan mini chips give you small chunks of sweetness and chocolate in each chunk. They are optional when you want to cut on sugar or go super-clean.
