INGREDIENT NOTES:

FLOUR TORTILLAS:

  • We use them because they are flexible and easy to roll. You may use whole-wheat tortillas for more fiber in the recipe. Use gluten-free tortillas if you do not use gluten in the recipe.

VEGAN CREAM CHEESE:

  • It makes the main creamy texture in the filling. Cream cheese holds all the ingredients together. You may use vegan cashew cream cheese as another choice.

VEGAN CHEDDAR-STYLE CHEESE:

  • This cheese gives a classic cheesy taste to the pinwheels and makes them delicious. It also works well with the jalapenos. You may use Monterey Jack as a substitute.

VEGAN MAYONNAISE:

  • It makes the filling in the pinwheels soft and creamy. Mayonnaise spreads the mixture well on the tortillas. You may use thick vegan yogurt as an alternative.

GREEN ONIONS:

  • They include a mild onion taste and a little freshness in the pinwheels. Onions work well with the creamy cheese and spicy jalapeños. You may use chives as a replacement.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. First, dry the washed jalapeños, then remove their seeds and membranes for a milder filling.
  2. Chop the jalapeños and cilantro, then slice the green onions.
  3. Stir the vegan cream cheese and vegan mayonnaise in the bowl to make a smooth mixture.
  4. Mix vegan shredded cheese, smoked paprika, jalapeños, cilantro, salt, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and lemon juice.
  5. Put one tortilla flat on the surface and spread an even layer of filling on it.
  6. Leave small borders around the edges and roll the tortilla tightly.
  7. Make rolls of the remaining filling and tortilla by repeating the same steps, then cover all the rolls in the plastic wrap.
  8. Chill them for one hour, then take them from the refrigerator and trim the ends after removing the wrap.
  9. Lastly, slice each roll into 4 pinwheels and arrange on the platter to serve.
