Vegan Rice Ball

Vegan Rice Balls are a type of snack or appetizer dish. This recipe features cooked rice, oil, garlic, onion, & seasonings. You may go for either baking or air-frying them. As compared to the oven, air-frying the balls will take less time. Their preparation is quick & easy. If you cool them down to regular temperature then you will be able to save them successfully for a few days in the refrigerator & around 50/60 days in the freezer. Vegan Rice Balls are perfect for those following the vegan diet. You may increase their nutritional value by adding the dry fruits of your choice.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Cooked Basmati rice 2 cups
  • Roughly chopped half onion
  • All-purpose flour 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice 1/4 cup
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • Chopped garlic cloves 3
  • Olive oil 1 tbsp
  • Italian Seasoning 1 tbsp
  • One teaspoon of tapioca flour

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. First, heat the oven by adjusting its internal temperature to 425 degrees.

PREPARATION OF RICE BALL MIXTURE:

  1. Add one cup of cooked rice, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, garlic cloves, chopped onions, and fresh parsley to a food blender.
  2. Blend it until rice and the other items are crushed well.
  3. Next, add the rice batter to a dish.
  4. Then, mix the remaining one cup of rice with this batter.
  5. After that, add the olive oil, all-purpose flour, and tapioca flour.
  6. Combine all the items with your hands or a spatula.
  7. Next, shape this rice ball mixture into small round balls.
  8. If the batter seems a little bit liquid in form then use some excess flour.
  9. Through this method, we will prepare the sixteen rice balls.

Baking:

  1. Mist the baking tray with cooking oil or spread baking paper over the tray.
  2. Then, shift the balls to this tray one by one.
  3. Bake it for twenty-one to twenty-five minutes.
  4. Change its sides during baking so that it bakes properly.
  5. After that, shift the baked balls to a serving plate.
  6. The tasty rice balls are prepared.,
  7. Serve with any sauce or side meal.

Air Fryer:

  1. Adjust the temperature knob of air fryer at 200 degrees C.
  2. After that, arrange the readymade rice balls to the air fryer tray.
  3. Next, simmer it for approximately ten to thirteen minutes.
  4. The yummy and crispy rice balls are ready to serve.

SUBSTITUTIONS OF THIS RECIPE:

Rice varieties:

  • Although the long-grain variety of rice like jasmine, white, or basmati rice works well for this dish. You may also try short-grain rice like sticky rice or brown rice. You can modify the quantity of water and flour required to make the batter resemble the consistency in this recipe because the rice is already cooked.

Gluten-free flour:

  • You can use flour(rice/chickpeas) instead of all-purpose/gluten-free flour. Simply adjust the quantity of chickpea flour according to the ingredients and instructions.

Tapioca flour:

  • Replace the tapioca flour with cornstarch. Both varieties of flour contribute to the adhering process.

Herbs:

  • Try this rice ball recipe with different types of herbs like basil or cilantro.

Reheating:

  • There is no requirement to thaw them before serving. Heat the chilled balls directly in a microwave or air fryer until they are crispy and thoroughly heated.
