Vegan Tempeh Sandwich

Vegan Tempeh Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • Apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp.
  • Ground cumin 1/4 tsp.
  • Thinly sliced tempeh 8 oz.
  • Olive oil 1 tbsp.
  • Onion powder 1/2 tsp.
  • Salt 1/4 tsp.
  • Liquid smoke 1/2 tsp.
  • Maple syrup 1 tbsp.
  • Soy sauce 2 tbsp.
  • Smoked paprika 1 tsp.
Optional ingredients:
  • Avocado
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Grainy mustard
  • Vegan mayonnaise
  • Sandwich bread

Instructions:

  1. Take a baking dish and then add the sliced tempeh to it.
  2. Take a medium bowl and then add the rest of the tempeh elements in it and then make a marinade.
  3. Now pour that marinade all over the tempeh and then leave it until you preheat your oven to the required temperature.
  4. You can also leave the tempeh for 24 hours.
  5. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Now take a baking dish and then evenly layer the marinade tempeh in that dish and then bake it for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Then Flip the tempeh and cook it for almost 7 minutes until the tempeh becomes crispy and dark brown.
Assembling:
  1. Place one layer of bread and then spread the vegan mayo over it and then the other bread slice with the mustard paste.
  2. Then layer it with the fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and then the baked tempeh and then cover it with the second slice of the bread.
  3. Moreover, add the avocadoes to the sandwich if you like.
  4. You can also toast the sandwich by greasing it with the oil and then place it in the pan until it becomes golden and crispy.
