Ingredients:

  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ONE teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Cooking spray or a small amount of oil for spraying

Instructions:

  1. Press Tofu:
    • Press the block of tofu to remove excess water. You can use a tofu press or wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel, place it on a plate, and top it with a heavy object. Press for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare Marinade:
    • In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  3. Marinate Tofu:
    • Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes. Place the tofu cubes in a bowl, add the cornstarch, and toss until evenly coated. Pour the marinade over the tofu and gently toss to coat each cube. Let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange Tofu in Air Fryer:
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the marinated tofu cubes in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between each cube for even crisping.
  6. Air Fry Tofu:
    • Air fry the tofu at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking. The tofu should be golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  7. Serve Warm:
