Ingredients

  • Sugar 1/2cup
  • Orange Juice 1/3cup
  • Vegan Red Wine 3cups
  • Vanilla Bean Pods 1/2
  • Cinnamon Quill 1
  • Fresh Sliced Ginger 1
  • Star Anise 1
  • Sliced apple 1
  • Bay Leaf 1
  • Orange 1
  • Lemon 1
  • Cloves 6

Ingredient Notes

Sugar: This item is used to cut the citrus flavor of the wine. You can use different sugar options but the wine’s flavor will change.
Mulled Wine Spices: I used whole spices instead of crushed spices.
Orange Juice: Fresh orange juice will work better rather than bottled juice.
Lemon: We squeeze the fresh lemon juice and add it to make this wine.

Instructions

  1. Shift the small saucepan to medium flame on the stovetop.
  2. Add orange juice, sugar, Vegan red wine, Cinnamon Quill, Vanilla Bean Pods, bay leaf, cloves, lemon, orange, star rinse, and sliced ginger to this saucepan.
  3. Boil all ingredients to a medium flame until sugar is melted.
  4. Next, add the remaining red wine with sliced apples to this mixture.
  5. Turn down the burner flame from medium to low.
  6. Simmer it for only one minute. Discard its solid spices.
  7. Transfer the liquid into a wine glass using a strainer.
  8. Serve instantly.

Decoration Ideas

You can decorate the glass wine with sliced oranges, and lemons.
Top it with star anise, and cinnamon quill. Decoration items will make this wine more colorful.

  1. Simmer to a low heat so all ingredients mix well and enhance the wine flavor.
  2. Use orange and orange juice to give a tangy flavor.
  3. You can use powdered form spices instead of whole spices.
  4. Add agave nectar, or maple syrup instead of sugar to adjust the sweetener level.
  5. Instead of red wine, you can use cranberry or lemon juice.
  6. Use only hard and sweet apples instead of soft apples.

Notes

First, we mix a small amount of wine with other ingredients so all flavors absorb into the wine. After that, when we will pour a large amount of wine we will not boil it. Otherwise, its taste will be bitter.

Storage Information

Refrigerator: Pour the remaining Vegan Mulled Wine into a sealed and clean glass jar. Store this jar in the fridge for more than two days.
