Ingredients
- Extra Firm Tofu 1Ib
- Tofu Coating
- Corn starch 2-3tbsp
- Soy Sauce 1tbsp
- Olive Oil 1tbsp
- Salt 1/2tsp
Orange Sauce
- Orange Juice 1/2cup
- Soy Sauce 1 1/2tbsp
- Normal Water 1/4cup
- Maple Syrup 2tbsp
- Chopped Ginger 1tsp
- Grated Garlic Clove 1
- Rice Vinegar 1tbsp
- Corn starch 1tbsp
Cooking
- Vegan oil- used for frying purposes
- Chopped Onion 1/2- optional
- Slices of Orange- optional
- Salt- to taste
Ingredients
Cornstarch: It thickens the soup’s consistency and helps to coat the tofu.
Soy Sauce: Use low-sodium soy sauce.
Rice Wine Vinegar: It is used to balance the dish’s flavor. You can replace it with white vinegar.
Orange Juice: Fresh juice is used to give a tangy flavor.
Instructions
- Prepare the soft and tangy vegan orange tofu in two methods.
Oven
- First, adjust the oven temperature to 200 degrees.
- Meanwhile, when the oven is heated we will marinate the tofu.
- Take tofu, and dry it with a kitchen towel so moisture content is absorbed.
- Cut the dry tofu into small bite sizes.
- Shift into a bowl with soy sauce, cornstarch, and olive oil.
- Mix all ingredients so the tofu marinates well.
- Grease the parchment paper with olive oil and place it over the baking tray.
- Next, add marinated tofus to a baking sheet.
- Bake it for 15-20 minutes until its outer layer is golden brown and tender.
- The dish is ready. Serve it with orange sauce.
Pan
- Cut tofu into small sizes.
- Add olive oil to a frying pan. Heat it over a medium flame.
- Next, add tofu to this pan. Sprinkle over salt.
- Fry it over a medium flame for 10- 12 minutes.
- Flip each side of tofu after every 4 minutes so it cooks easily on every side.
- Transfer the fried tofus to a plate. Set aside this plate.
Preparation Of Orange Sauce
- Add chopped garlic, maple sugar, orange juice, ginger, soy sauce, orange zest, and rice vinegar to a large nonstick pan.
- On a low heat, simmer it for 5-6 minutes.
- Meanwhile, add water, and cornstarch in a separate mixing bowl.
- Whisk it continuously to make a fine and lumps-free slurry.
- Add this slurry to the pan. Mix it continuously for 2 minutes until the sauce consistency thickens.
- Next, add fried tofus to this pan and stir so the orange sauce mixes well.
- The Vegan Orange Tofu is ready to serve.
Serving Ideas
Rice: You can serve the orange tofu with steamed or boiled rice. It goes well with Basmati rice, Jasmine rice, and whole-grain rice.
Noodles: Try it with Asian Noodles like Soba or Udon.
Veggies: It is also well-suited to steamed vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower florets, mushrooms, peas, green beans, and corn.
