  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any non-dairy milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (such as cranberries, blueberries, or raisins) or vegan chocolate chips (optional)
  • Vegan butter and jam, for serving (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold vegan butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
