INGREDIENT NOTES:

EXTRA-FIRM TOFU:

  • Tofu is the main component of this dish that keeps its structure while air frying. It absorbs the taste very well and gets crispy after cooking. You may use chickpeas, firm tofu, or soy curls as per your preference.

CORNSTARCH:

  • It makes the crispy exterior of the tofu. Cornstarch helps the sauce stick well to the tofu. You may use arrowroot powder as an alternative.

SESAME OIL:

  • Sesame oil gives a nutty taste and improves the overall aroma. It gives authentic stir-fry flavor. You may use peanut oil as another idea.

CARROTS:

  • They give natural sweetness and crunch to the recipe. Carrots maintain the savory sauce and make the meal healthier. You may use zucchini, snap peas, or cabbage as per your choice.

SOY SAUCE:

  • Soy sauce gives an umami taste that improves the savory depth. It forms the base of stir-fry sauce. You may use tamari as a substitute.

RICE VINEGAR:

  • It gives acidity that maintains the sweet and salty taste in the sauce. Rice vinegar keeps the taste bright. Use lemon juice if you are not adding rice vinegar.
