Vegan Tofu Sticks

INGREDIENTS:

FOR VEGAN TOFU STICKS

  • Tofu 1 block, extra firm
  • All-purpose flour 1/2 cup, use gluten-free flour
  • Nori sheets 4
  • Plant-based milk 1 cup
  • Half a teaspoon of onion powder
  • Old Bay seasoning 1 tsp
  • Garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon
  • One cup of panko bread crumbs
  • salt 1 tsp, or according to taste

FOR VEGAN TARTAR SAUCE

  • Vegan Mayo 1/2 cup
  • Lime juice 1 tsp
  • Dill pickles 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1/4tsp, add according to taste
  • Black pepper a pinch
  • Dill 1 tbsp, chopped

INSTRUCTIONS:

To make crunchy and tasty Vegan Tofu Sticks, follow some instructions.

PREPARATION OF SHEETS

  1. Meanwhile, cut the tofu block into half-length slices and then again cut half-length slices into two pieces.
  2. Next, cut nori sheets into half-length slices and again divide the slice into three equal halves with a knife.
  3. Each nori sheet yields six pieces.
  4. Now, Place a strip of tofu on top of the nori sheets.
  5. Roll the sheet and seal its ends with water.
  6. Repeat the same procedure and make 10-12 rolls.

FOR COATING THE TOFU STICKS

  1. To coat the rolled tofu strips, we will take 3 bowls.
  2. Pour one cup of all-purpose flour, plant-based milk, old bay seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder into the first bowl.
  3. Mix all the ingredients.
  4. Add breadcrumbs and salt to the second bowl.
  5. Add half a cup of all-purpose flour to the third bowl.
  6. Now, take the tofu strips, and coat the strips with flour.
  7. Next, dip the tofu strips in the plant-based milk and flour mixture.
  8. Again, coat tofu pieces in the bread crumbs and salt.
  9. We will cook vegan tofu sticks in two methods.

Baking

  1. First, set the oven temperature to 245 degrees.
  2. Take a baking tray and grease it with a few drops of oil.
  3. Now, add tofu sticks to the tray one by one.
  4. Bake it for 30-40 minutes or until each side gives a beautiful brown color.
  5. During baking, flip each side so that it won’t be burnt.
  6. Once baked, move to a plate and serve.

Stovetop:

  1. Add oil to the pan and heat it over a high flame.
  2. Carefully, put the tofu sticks into the heated oil.
  3. Fry the tofu sticks for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Cook every side of the tofu sticks until it is lightly golden and crunchy.
  5. The vegan tofu sticks are ready. Serve it with homemade tartar sauce.

Air Fryer

  1. First, warm the air fryer to 200 degrees C or 400 degrees F.
  2. Next, add tofu sticks in an air fryer.
  3. Cook each side for approximately 6 to 9 minutes or until it’s completely air fried.
  4. After that, shift the crispy and tasty sticks to a serving plate.

  1. To prepare the sauce, add Vegan Mayo, Lime juice, Pickles, and dill in a bowl.
