INGREDIENTS:

For the patties:

  • One cup of cooked lentils
  • Half a cup of rolled oats
  • Two tablespoons of tomato paste
  • A small amount of soy sauce

  • To taste, add both pepper & salt
  • One tablespoon of frying olive oil
  • For the vegan Big Mac sauce:
  • Three teaspoons of vegan mayonnaise

  • One teaspoon of sweet pickle relish
  • Add salt to taste

INGREDIENT NOTES:

Cooked Lentils:

  • Brown or green lentils are used. Empty them thoroughly before use. Lentils provide a meat-like consistency. They contain fiber & protein.

Rolled Oats:

  • Oats are meant to hold the patty. They additionally take up moisture. Use quick oats when you have nothing better. Avoid packets of instant oatmeal.

Tomato Paste:

  • Gives depth in flavor and color. It makes the patty moist. Take unsweetened tomato paste. Don’t use ketchup in the mix of the patty.

Soy Sauce:

  • Adds safety, salty taste. It substitutes for the use of additional salt. Put some low-sodium in its place, in case you like. Tamari is employed by gluten-free.

Vegan Mayo:

  4. Create two circular patties
  5. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat
  6. Fry patties till golden, 4 to 5 minutes per side
  7. Combine all the sauce ingredients in a separate bowl
  8. In a dry pan, toast the burger buns
  9. Cover the bottom bun with sauce
  10. Add the pickles, green onions, cheese, leafy greens & patty
  11. Place one more bun & the excess sauce on top
  12. Warm up & serve

TIPS:

  • To make their texture firm, I chill and cook the patties.
  • Make twice the quantity of sauce and put it in the refrigerator.
  • Get buns made of whole-grain to add fiber.
  • Use tomato slices/jalapeños as a variation.
  • Smaller miniatures of party sliders.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

REFRIGERATE:

  • Store any remaining patties in a sealed container. Keep for a maximum of three days. Warm up again in a microwave/pan. Store the sauce in a different jar.
