Vegan Mozzarella Sticks

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Non-stick pan
  • Serving Plate
  • Baking tray
  • Cooking Brush

Ingredients

  • Vegan mozzarella cheese, 1 block
  • All-purpose flour, 1/4 cup
  • Unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup
  • Cornstarch, 2 tablespoons
  • Fine breadcrumbs, 1 cup
  • Italian seasoning, 1 tsp
  • Garlic powder 1/2 tsp
  • Vegetable oil; we also used peanut oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for serving

Ingredient Notes:

Cheese: We used vegan cheese to add flavor and taste. You can use any preferred brand of cheese. I use Mozzarella cheese because it tastes good.
Flour: It works as a binding. Replace the all-purpose flour with gluten or almond flour.
Italian Seasoning: I used Italian Seasoning because it gives delicious flavors.
Garlic Powder: You can use fresh chopped garlic instead of ready-made garlic powder.

Instructions

  1. Take vegan mozzarella cheese and cut cheese into long stripes or cube sizes.
  2. Next, take 3 empty mixing bowls.
  3. Pour the all-purpose flour into the first bowl.
  4. Second bowl, add almond milk and cornstarch. Whisk it.
  5. Add breadcrumbs, Italian seasonings, and garlic powder in a third bowl. Combine all ingredients.
  6. Now, coat each cheese strip. First, dip the cheese strip into an all-purpose flour bowl; a second coat with almond milk and cornstarch; and a third with bread crumbs.
  7. Coat each cheese strip using the same method.
  8. Place all of the coated cheese strips on a baking sheet.
  9. For sixty minutes, refrigerate it so the cheese won’t melt.
After an hour, we can make vegan mozzarella sticks in two methods.

Frying

  1. Adjust the burner flame to medium flame. Heat vegan oil in a pan for 1/2 minutes.
  2. Next, add frozen cheese sticks to the pan.
  3. Fry each side of the sticks until it gets brown and crispy.
  4. After frying, shift the sticks to the serving plate.

Baking:

  1. Heat the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Drizzle a few drops of vegan oil over the baking tray and spread it with the help of a cooking brush.
  3. Next, add frozen cheese sticks to the baking tray.
  4. Bake all sticks for 8-10 minutes until the outside layer is crispy.
  5. After baking, serve hot cheesy sticks with homemade sauce.

Air Fryer

  1. For the air fryer, add a few drops of vegan oil to an air fryer basket.
  2. Next, add cheese sticks, and air fry for 8-10 minutes until it gets brown and crispy.
  3. After, remove sticks from the air fryer. Enjoy it with your favorite dip.

Tips

  • Marinate the cheese sticks overnight so all spices blend well with the sticks.
  • To avoid mess, use two forks, one for dry ingredients and the second for wet ingredients.
  • Either use store-bought or homemade bread crumbs. Both will work well.
  • To get the best taste, frying is the best option.

Notes:

Use alternative gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs instead of all-purpose flour.
To prepare these sticks, you can add any vegan cheese. But Miyoko’s Mozzarella works well.
